Every day it chimes at 11 a.m. as well as at 12 p.m. and in the summer at 5 p.m., too. The Glockenspiel shows two stories from the 16th century.

Looks like structures that Gaudi built in Barcelona.There is an elevator to the top of the tower which offers a great view of Munich. There is courtyard area that serves as a self service cafeteria and restaurant with waiters. Went to the cafeteria twice. Sausages, beer and wine were good and inexpensive. Nice place to relax in Marienplatz.

In the mid-1800s, several buildings were destroyed in Marienplatz, and construction began on the enormous New Town Hall.
